Gold Rush 5K 2020

Missouri S&T and Miner Athletics have teamed up to host the virtual Gold Rush 5K to raise funds for the Miner Resilience Fund.

Congratulations to everyone who completed the Gold Rush 5K, our first virtual 5K!

Over $3,000 was raised in support of the Miner Resilience Fund. In addition, twelve prizes have been awarded by the Gold Rush 5K committee.

Fastest run time - Ean Buffington Ean's run time was 10 seconds faster than the fastest bike time entered. Ean, were you on a scooter? Seriously … a respectable time!

Fastest bike time - Rodney Hawkins Congrats Rodney!

Fastest walk time and best couple selfie - Neil and Hattie Starek Congrats to Neil on the fastest walk time. Your farm makes a beautiful selfie backdrop!

Most committed - Steven Schoonover Steven's run time came in under the fastest walk time. We congratulate him on his commitment to finishing strong!

Best selfie in a Gold Rush T-shirt and creative course map - Gary Elbert We love your post-run sunrise selfie and course map that spells out "UMR!"

Most creative course map and biggest dog - Susan Baum Susan and her dog completed the 5K on Election Day, spelling out the word "vote" on her course map.

Farthest away participant - John Lovitt John completed his 5K in California!

Longest beard - Jonathan Kimball Congrats on completing the race and on your awesome beard!

Overall best participation - Tiffany Ash Tiffany went all out in participating in many of the components of the virtual event. She ran the 5K, submitted her photo wearing her Gold Rush t-shirt, and submitted Alicia Keys' "Underdog" and "Might Not Like Me" by Brynn Elliott to the Gold Rush playlist. We love Miners who Dig Deeper!
