Jordan Lynn and Derek Voges met at a Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity party at the end of August in 2015.

“We were both keeping an eye on a mutual friend who ended up calling us ‘mom and dad’ by the end of the night, so we played along,” she says. “Once we got the mutual friend home safe, we ended up spending most of the next three days with each other. We went out to Applebee’s the Tuesday after we met for a ‘proper’ date, and the rest is history!”
While at S&T, the couple enjoyed participating in St. Pat’s celebrations.
“We’ve hosted some separate and some together, and we embraced as many traditions as possible,” she says.
Jordan earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering in 2019, and Derek earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 2020. The pair plan to marry in October 2021.
Their relationship advice?
“Don’t be afraid to get involved with someone, even if it’s early on,” she says. “We started dating a week into our freshman year, but it just felt right.”
