You know all about Joe Miner, the world’s greatest mascot. But do you know Joe Minor, the civil engineer? Joseph E. Minor served as chair of S&T’s civil engineering department for five years. An expert in wind engineering, the native Texan specialized in studying the effects of tornadoes and hurricanes on buildings and the performance of window glass. Minor earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M and a Ph.D. from Texas Tech. In 2018, he was named a distinguished member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. This Miner, Joe Minor, had a major impact on his profession.
