Hycintia Subash and Vincent Allen

When Hycintia Subash and Vincent Allen were seated next to each other at an etiquette dinner in March 2014, neither of them likely expected to be married to each other less than six months later.

“It happened to be my birthday and we really hit it off,” she says. “He’s my favorite birthday present – unless maybe he gets me a Tesla.”

The etiquette dinner – their first unplanned “date” – provided a great, no-press dinner experience, she recalls.

Vincent earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 2014 and his master’s degree in computer science in 2020. Hycintia earned her master’s degree in electrical engineering in 2015.

Their favorite relationship advice?

“Don’t listen to anyone,” she says. “No one knows what they’re doing.”
