Arden Hawley met Alex Richter in August 2015 after her roommate joined KMNR, where he was a DJ.

“She introduced us and Alex gave us a tour of the station,” she says. The couple started dating that fall and got engaged in December 2020.
As students, one of their favorite activities was the annual KMNR fundraiser at the Grotto, a local bar.
“Working with our friends to raise funds for the puppies and kitties was something we looked forward to every year,” she adds.
Alex earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering management in 2017. Arden earned a bachelor’s degree in information science and technology in 2018.
“Both of us having engineering experience makes for a fun time putting together Lego sets and Ikea furniture,” she says. “We highly recommend the activity to other Rolla grads.”
Today Alex works as a project manager at Dematic and Arden works as a cloud engineer at Cigna.
Their relationship advice?
“A healthy relationship does not mean no conflict,” she says. “Having open dialogue with your partner is super important!”
